Software License
Last updated: 02/15/2025
1. Overview
Certain software applications and tools provided by RF StateSide, LLC (including, for example, MercuryLuxPc and other desktop utilities) are proprietary applications that may dynamically link to third-party libraries licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License version 3 (LGPLv3).
This page explains how those third-party LGPL components are used and what your rights are with respect to them. It does not grant rights to the proprietary source code of RF StateSide applications.
2. Proprietary Application Code
Unless explicitly stated otherwise on a specific product page, the source code of RF StateSide applications (such as MercuryLuxPc) is closed source and not released to the public. You receive a license to use the compiled application binary, but not to access or modify the underlying proprietary source code.
Your open-source rights under LGPLv3 apply only to the third-party libraries (for example Qt) and not to the RF StateSide application code itself.
3. Use of LGPLv3 Libraries (e.g., Qt)
Some RF StateSide applications dynamically link against libraries licensed under LGPLv3, such as:
- QtCore, QtGui, QtWidgets, QtNetwork, and other Qt modules
- Other LGPL components where noted
In these cases:
- The application uses dynamic linking to the LGPL libraries.
- You are permitted to replace the LGPL libraries with your own compatible builds, as allowed by LGPLv3.
- You may reverse engineer the application only to the extent necessary to debug or replace the LGPL-covered components, consistent with the license.
4. Source Code Availability (LGPL Components Only)
In accordance with LGPLv3, RF StateSide, LLC will make available, upon request:
- The corresponding source code for the LGPL-licensed libraries used (for example, Qt), or
- A written offer valid for at least 3 years to provide that source code.
This obligation applies only to the LGPL-covered libraries, not to the proprietary RF StateSide application code.
5. Modifications and Derivative Works of LGPL Components
If you modify and redistribute the LGPL-licensed libraries themselves, you must comply with LGPLv3, which generally requires:
- Releasing the modified library under LGPLv3
- Providing the modified library’s source code
- Preserving existing copyright and license notices
These requirements apply to the libraries, not to the proprietary RF StateSide application code that merely links to them.
6. Restrictions on RF StateSide Applications
Unless expressly permitted in a separate written agreement, you may not:
- Access or request the proprietary source code of RF StateSide applications
- Modify, decompile, or reverse engineer the applications beyond what is required by LGPLv3 to replace LGPL components
- Redistribute modified versions of RF StateSide application binaries
- Remove or alter copyright and license notices
7. No Warranty
In line with LGPLv3 and the RF StateSide terms:
ALL SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
RF StateSide, LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the software, including but not limited to data loss, equipment damage, or RF system misconfiguration.
